About us
Welcome to Brothers in Baby Loss, a podcast dedicated to providing support and resources for Dads navigating the difficult journey of baby loss and child bereavement. Our aim is to make our podcast and this website a safe space to help you through your journey.
Our mission is to provide support and guidance, while our vision is to break the silence surrounding baby loss and create a community of understanding and healing.
The BIBL team
Brothers in Baby Loss was founded by four bereaved dads; Jeff, Mikey, Dan and Ross, who have all suffered the loss of a child.

We're not counsellors or trained professionals, we're just four dads that met at a local baby loss support group in Bedfordshire and decided to set up this podcast to discuss our experiences, with the aim of helping other bereaved dads through their journeys.

Jeff
Jeff and Elaine were blessed with twins Matilda and Chester, who were born 10 weeks early on 17th December 2021. Heartbreakingly, at 6 days old, it was discovered that Chesters heart had not formed properly, his life and time on earth were to be short.
On New Years Eve 2021, Chester met his big Brother JJ for the first time and soon after took his last breath, said goodbye and gained his angel wings just short of being with us for 2 weeks. Following on from Chester passing, Matilda spent several months in 3 different NICU’s before being allowed home.
When I grew up, I wanted to be: A Tank Driver (although my teachers said I should be a Barrister as they said I could talk myself out of any situation).
Pineapple on pizza? Yes (unless you’re in Italy).
Day job: Partner – Property Consultancy
Football team: Arsenal
Why I'm doing this podcast: Baby loss is still a very taboo subject, and Dads are too often forgotten, we are all going through a journey and members of a club no one wants, however, by sharing our experiences and opening the discussion, I hope that others will know that support and help is out there for anyone who may need it, whether that be a fellow bereaved dad, their partner, siblings other family members or friends.

Mikey
Mikey is Arthur's Daddy. Arthur was stillborn at 33 weeks in 2020 following reduced movements, but an otherwise completely normal pregnancy. After an anxious rainbow pregnancy journey, Mikey and his wife went on to have their rainbow baby in 2021 and most recently welcomed their second daughter in 2024.

Mikey ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon in 2021 raising over £6,000 for the charity Tommy's. When he's not getting involved with the podcast you can find him entertaining his two girls, gardening or playing guitar.

When I grew up, I wanted to be: Train driver, or an astronaut
Pineapple on pizza? Absolutely yes!
Day job: Product Marketing at a cybersecurity company
Football team: Whichever is getting me the most points in FPL
Why I'm doing this podcast: I'd like to help other bereaved Dads feel like they're not alone on their journey through baby loss, and to give them hope that they can find the strength to get through the dark times.

Dan
Esme is Dan's daughter. She is Dan's second child, however, unfortunately she is no longer with us. Esme was born sleeping on the 30th July 2024 following reduced movements, albeit a textbook pregnancy.
Just 3 months after his loss, Dan completed the 3 peaks in 3 days. Along with his partner and family members they raised over £5,500 for Chums Baby Bereavement service. A charity that has supported the 4 of us, and still is.
When I grew up, I wanted to be: A footballer
Pineapple on pizza? I guess so but id rather pepperoni
Day job: Joiner
Football team: Liverpool
Why I'm doing this podcast: I want to help other bereaved dads, guide them through the hard times. Im hoping this will help me to, its still early days for myself. I hope I can offer a raw, unique, listening experience in going through some tough moments.

Ross
After initial concerns that they would struggle to conceive due to Becky suffering from Endometriosis, Ross and Becky were delighted when in May 2023 they fell pregnant.
The pregnancy itself was as ‘normal’ as a pregnancy could be and they entered 2024 with the hope and dreams of the arrival of their baby boy. Sadly on Monday 8th January, after a trip to triage due to reduced movements, it was confirmed that there was no longer a heartbeat.
At this point the induction process started and on the 9th January Charlie Christopher Hagger was born at 39 weeks 4 days – 3 days before his due date. As soon as Charlie was born the midwife pointed out to Ross and Becky the presence of a ‘true knot’ (a tight knot in the umbilical cord) and this was the only factor that could be found as to why Charlie did not survive.
Ross and Becky since then have gone on to raise money for charity in Charlie's name, including starting an annual charity football match. They have also gone on to have a Rainbow baby and welcomed Archie Lucas Hagger safely into the world on 8th February 2025.
When I grew up I wanted to be: Professional Footballer or Football Coach
Pineapple on pizza? Yes of course, you’re wrong if you say differently!
Day job: SHEQ Advisor in Water Utility/Construction sector
Football team: Manchester United
Why I'm doing this podcast: After Charlies death I found a lack of support for bereaved Dads and the family/friends that loved me the most didn’t know what to say – I felt very alone. Finding fellow bereaved Dads through Chums and other baby loss podcasts helped me to survive. I want this podcast to do the same for other Dads and let them know they are not alone and we are here for them. I also see this podcast as a way of me being a Dad to Charlie, it is something I need to do for him to give his life meaning.
